STEAM for Vietnam

Besides working full-time as an Industrial Designer, I endeavor to give back to the community.

Since May 2020, I have been joining STEAM for Vietnam, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

We have the goal to bring technology literacy to millions of young Vietnamese all around the world. So far, we have reached more than 50,000 students from 36 countries.

Furthermore, I also have the honor to contribute to the design and work both directly and indirectly with many prestigious institutions, such as the Unicef, the U.S. Embassy in Vietnam, the Scratch Education Collaborative (MIT), and many high-profile universities in Vietnam; and I am fortunate to work alongside many talented professionals from renowned corporations such as Google, Facebook, Microsoft, Twitter, Amazon ...  From whom I have learned a lot and developed both professionally and personally. To me, STEAM for Vietnam is much more than just an organization, it is a place where people share the same hopes and dreams for a better future for our fellow people.

Design Lead | Creative designer

When I first started, I was the first and only designer at STEAM for Vietnam. I was in charge of pretty much anything from designing characters, banners, web graphics, to video editing.

After a year, the design team has grown to 8 people. It is my great honor to manage the team and still be able to work as a creative designer. My duties are below but not limited to:

  • Coordinating with instructors for the development of tech courses for 50k+ students from 36 countries.

  • Contributing to a large collection of 700 marketing pieces that generate 4,200,000 interactions.

  • Creating to curriculum materials, including creating class content visuals, course presentation slides, video production, and promotional content, resulting in more than 167,000+ hours of viewing on YouTube and 180,000+ hours of live viewing on our LiveApp platform.

  • Overseeing multiple design disciplines, including course visuals, marketing materials, branding guidelines, and video campaigns.

  • Managing a design team of 8 and overseeing team workflow, cross-functional collaboration, media production, and strategy development.

  • Mentoring fellow designers and video editors.

  • Instructed CS 001 and CS 101 courses.
